Discrimination and Harassment Education

Valencia College is committed to inclusivity and is continuously working to amplify the message by communicating special initiatives, as well as providing resources and services to support all faculty, staff and students.

A central focus of our efforts to strengthen Valencia College’s inclusive community revolve around preparing faculty, staff and students to know and exhibit inclusive behaviors, when to step in or speak out on situations, and how to report issues related to harassment, discrimination or sexual assault.

Sexual Harassment 培训

Valencia College employees are often seen as people who students or other staff members can reach out to for guidance, support or assistance in many areas. Individuals who share information that is sensitive in nature regarding their personal lives and experiences, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, interpersonal violence and stalking, all require special attention from the college.

 college policy 6H28:2-01, Discrimination, Harassment and Related Misconduct, Valencia College faculty and staff members may be asked to participate in online sexual harassment general awareness 培训. This provides information about reporting requirements, as well as how to respond to such disclosures.

教师 and staff members will receive an email about 培训 and have 30 days to complete the online course. Registration and course access is available through VC EDGE and since it is offered online, it can be taken at any time. After the 30-day period, individuals will receive notification that they have not yet completed the 培训. 教师 and staff should check their email regularly for a notification that the 培训 is available.

 

Responsible 员工

Valencia College  policy 6Hx28:2-01 Discrimination, Harassment and Related Misconduct, identifies individuals employees with administrative or supervisory responsibilities or who have been designated as Campus Security Authorities as “Responsible 员工.” Note that these individuals are not designated by the College to institute corrective measures for allegations of discrimination or harassment based on a Protected Status. A responsible employee is a Valencia employee who has the duty to report incidents of discrimination, harassment, and related misconduct, or who a member of the Valencia College community could reasonably believe has such authority or duty. 信息 shared regarding Title IX sexual harassment, sexual assault, interpersonal violence and stalking also known as Title IX Sexual Misconduct can be sensitive in nature and requires special attention from the college. Because the College has an obligation to make reasonable efforts to investigate and address instances of known or suspected Title IX Sexual Misconduct, Responsible 员工 and Campus Security Authorities who have information or receive a report of Title IX sexual misconduct must immediately share with the Title IX Coordinator all known details of an incident.

We recognize that this may be a new responsibility, and want to assure our employees that we are here to help you learn more about our expectations and provide 培训 on how to respond to any such disclosures. All Responsible 员工 are expected to participate in an in-person Title IX Responsible Employee 培训. 这个培训 will provide you with comprehensive information regarding:

  • Other Designated Staff (e.g., Title IX Coordinator; Director and Assistant Director, Equal Opportunity, Director, Student Services; Assistant Director, Student Conduct; Senior Director and Assistant Director, Organizational Development and Human 资源)
  • Director, Study Abroad and Global Exchange

We strive to be a community in which all members can learn and work in an atmosphere free from all forms of Title IX Sexual Misconduct, including Title IX Interpersonal Violence, Title IX Sexual Assault, and Title IX Stalking. In order to ensure that all individuals responsible for responding to allegations of Title IX Misconduct understand their roles in the process and are free of biases and conflicts of interest, these individuals are required to complete regular 培训 and education programs related to Title IX, investigations, and related topic areas.

In accordance with the US Department of Education Title IX Regulations, colleges must make 培训 materials publicly available on websites. The 培训 materials posted here are used to train individuals involved in the review and adjudication of Title IX Sexual Misconduct.
